Lecture
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have become essential for operational efficiency across various industries, including for-profit sectors such as wholesale distribution, manufacturing, and technology, as well as nonprofit organizations, healthcare, higher education, government agencies, and beyond.
This session will offer a comprehensive overview of the evolution of ERP systems, beginning with their origins in the 1960s as basic inventory management tools, and following their transformation into integrated solutions that manage nearly every function within modern organizations.
We will explore the driving forces behind the need for ERP systems, examine various types of ERP systems—including industry-specific solutions—and discuss how these systems are integrated to provide end-to-end solutions for organizations. Additionally, we’ll address the importance of data management, privacy, and security within ERP systems.
The presentation will also cover the continuous development of ERP technologies, including the transition to cloud-based solutions, mobile access, and the integration of AI-driven functionalities.
By the end of this session, attendees will have a thorough understanding of how ERP systems have evolved, their current role within organizations, and their potential future impact.
